Today I made helmets and gloves at the workshop. The tools of the workshop are quite complete, and my production is quite smooth. The main problem I face is the closure of the voice in my helmet. Because I had to keep the air flowing inside my helmet, it was hard to keep the sound from being heard outside.
But it’s a very interesting project, and when I touch something the sound is transmitted into the helmet.Touching objects of different materials will produce different sounds.
This week I went to the workshop to ask about the feasibility of the scheme. I found that the school machine could not make the size of my helmet. The size of the helmet was too big, so I made some adjustments to the plan. And then I pointed out the drawings.
After discussing with Owen, I plan to make the model. I’m going to buy some needed materials tomorrow.
Today I was working on a concept for my project. Because the corridor is a dark space. You might not be able to see things clearly here. I wanted to build a device that would enhance touch and hearing. It looks like an astronaut. But his job is to amplify the sound of touch. I discussed my idea with Owen and he thought it was a great idea. Then I need to do more experiments and try.
In the evening I found some cases about sound at home. ‘Garden of Russolo’ inspired me. ‘Garden of Russolo’ is an interactive sound installation by Yuri Suzuki allowing visitors to have a sonic experience using their own voice.a series of phonograph-like wooden boxes compose the exhibition. re-interpreting audio inputs into a muffled atmospheric output, twisting and amplifying the original soundtracks. The Garden of Russolo at the Victoria and Albert museum comprises voice-activated devices that Yuri Suzuki calls White Noise Machines. Each processor is housed in a wooden box on four legs and has a horn on one side that receives sounds made by visitors and emits the transformed noises.
This week we started a new project to make a portable device. We’re going to put this in a museum. We visited this museum today, although this museum is not big, but the collection is very good, I am deeply attracted by these collections.
My project is located in the corridor, I specially visited the corridor, it is a very small space . So my device can’t be designed to be too big, And this corridor is kind of dark.
In the evening my classmates and I had Chinese food in Chinatown in London. I haven’t had Chinese food for a long time. It was a wonderful dinner.
We got together to summarize our project Today. We watched a video of how we made it, which was recorded last Friday. Everyone is busy in the video. We did documentation and some drawings yesterday. And then we edited the video of the day and arranged the photos. In this process, I found that our records were relatively complete.
This week is the last week of the project and we are all working on what is needed for the project. After I finished making the desktop, I went to the workshop to make branches. At the beginning, we did not master the skills of making, so we made them slowly and the quality was poor.Later, we summarized the experience and we worked out one step by three people, which quickly improved the efficiency.
We also completed the test of the projector, although we encountered some difficulties. Since other teams need to use the space above our desktop, we have to give up using that area. So we started to rethink, we can’t need another way to replace this “vertical projection.” In the discussion, we suddenly thought of a method of “secular reflection”. We wanted to use the mirror to reflect the light from the projector to the table, so that we don’t need to hang the projector vertically above the table. It can be placed on any position.
At last, our project went on display smoothly. It was a very happy day.
This week we made the grass mold and part of the model, I like to make models in my spare time, this is a very interesting thing for me.We’re going to make the shape of the Canterbury topography on the table. After some experimentation we finally decided to piece together a topographic map of Canterbury.
We also made films about our experiences in markets, farms and breweries. We’re going to put it on the left on the day of the presentation.
Last week we hammered it out, and then we started exploring, and we went Goods Shed. This is a local market in Canterbury, where the crops are produced on the Canterbury farms. We saw many beautiful fruits and vegetables in it.
Then we went to a local farm to find out how the crops were growing.Talking to local farmers, we found that Canterbury is famous for its beer.
We went to two local breweries to learn about the beer process and the local brands in Canterbury.Meanwhile, the staff showed us around the brewery. And tasted their beer. This is a very meaningful day.
Today we get together to discuss what each of us thinks. My solution was to make a device in which we could see both the food itself and where it came from.I think it will be very interesting.
Other team members also proposed very interesting schemes. Wenyan wanted to project plants on the table with a projector, which I think is an amazing idea.
JA wants to make a filter at the top of the project, and when the sunlight passes through the filter, there will be a magical texture on the table.
Everyone’s plan is very good, we can hardly choose who’s plan to use in our project. So we decided to listen to the teacher’s suggestion in the next review.
we started our first project in this week, which is a group project. I got five members in our group named Wenyan, Wenxiang, Wuyang, Jiayao, JA. They are all very good team members.
We sat in the studio and talked, and then we talked about our ideas for the project. We are going to use these days for everyone to come up with a plan. We’ll discuss our respective plans next week. I think the next discussion will be exciting.
Besides, we agreed to go to London to see the exhibition this weekend.
